Who says shopping isn't hard work?

We went to Justice today. The store was full of new wonderful things to look at. Hannah Montana gear, clothes, toys, shoes, hair stuff . . . the list goes on and on and on. Kate came home and crashed on the couch still clutching her goody bag.

A Moment Mom's Dream About

It was a busy morning. Sarah had the day off school but mom had emails to return and clients to call. No problem for the Schultz girls. They found a game to play, sat down in the middle of the kitchen and entertained themselves. It was such a wonderful treat for Supermom - I had to document it.

St. Jude's Trike-a-thon

Today Kate's preschool class participated in a trike-a-thon to benefit St. Jude's. Kate's very organized teachers had lanes drawn in the parking lot. Our big hearted girl rode 50 laps!! Go Kate.

Look out Illinois. Sarah Arizona is Here!!

The town of Washington, Illinois was a-buzz with whispers that Sarah Arizona had moved to town. Everyone was talking about it. The rumors were confirmed when all the kids in Mrs. Cagles' kindergarten received free tickets and ALL ACCESS back stage passes to a sold out Sarah Arizona event on April 12th.

The paparazzi began trailing every new girl in town. Soon people started to wonder if Sarah Schultz could be Sarah Arizona. Her secret was revealed when someone snapped pictures of Sarah practicing for her big show.

The paparazzi followed her everywhere she went. They must have had an inside man because they got pictures of her opening birthday presents.

Little sister gave Sarah some
Hannah Montana trading cards.

Sarah gave Kate a big thank you hug.

Sarah LOVED the singing Hannah card
from Nana and Poppy.

Oooooh, what's in here?

The paparazzi snapped this one at
Toys-R-Us during Sarah's annual shopping trip.

Then they followed her to Cheddars
where Sarah had her birthday dinner.

She loved all the fuss!

This picture of Sarah's little sister
on a major sugar binge made the cover
of a few tabloids.
The world wondered how
the parents could let this happen.

"Can I have a little privacy please?"

THE BIG EVENT

Sarah Arizona took the stage to open the show.

Hey, is the Bebe Kate down there on the floor?
What is she doing?

Thank you, thank you all for coming!!

There's Bebe Kate, singing a song too.

Happy Birthday Sarah Arizona!

Here friends brought gifts.

Sarah Arizona graciously accepted.

Then they went back to the stage to finish the show.

The guest had a scavenger hunt to find Sarah's
rock star gear. Then they dressed her up.

And they all went back on stage for some more fun.

Oh, thank you, thank you all
for making my birthday really special.

Spring Break 2008

Ah Spring Break - that glorious week in March when most people head someplace warm and take a break from winter. Both Sarah and Kate were off school for the whole week following Easter. What a week it was . . .

.
Monday
The floor guys were due at 7:30 am to finish installing our kitchen floor. We waited all day. They never came.

.

.
Sarah sat on her Easter eggs hoping some would hatch.
.

.
Tuesday
The floor guy finally came. Woo hoo!!! It took five weeks, dozens of phone calls, a whole bunch of waiting and a pinch of drama - but it's finally done. Check out the new section of floor.
.

.
With the floor complete our builders' foreman promised to have the painters and carpenters come and finish our punch list. Knowing we'd be waiting for them the rest of the week we tried to go out shopping Tuesday afternoon. Almost immediately, Kate broke out in hives so we rushed home and spent the rest of the afternoon looking for a pediatrician.
.
.
Wednesday
Supermom, who is not smart enough to line up doctors before we need them, spent the morning finding the perfect doctor for Kate. Then, we rushed her right to him.
We still don't know the cause of her hives but Little Kat needs to have some allergy testing done.
.
On the way to the doctor it started raining. If I haven't mentioned it before, it's really, really, windy in Illinois so the wind and the rain did not make a great environment for driving. Supermom was a bit stressed. In spite my stress level, the girls were hungry after the doctor and we needed to get some gifts for two birthday parties Sarah was invited to. Trying to salvage some fun out of the day, Supermom took the girls to Sarah's new favorite restaurant, Cheddars, for lunch. Two minutes after getting our drinks, our little actress was showing me something and knocked over a full soda. The coke flew off the table splashing everywhere. Then it dripped off the table onto my pants, into my favorite - unwashable - Kate Spade bag and onto my shoes. Meanwhile, Kate was passed out on my lap from the benadryl we'd given her for the hives.
.
The restaurant manager was so nice - saying it happens at least once a day. I was soaked, stressed and feeling so bad that our server and the manager had such a big mess to clean up. Meanwhile, Kate is zonked out snoring and Sarah has shrunk into a ball on her side of the booth (where I can't reach her) feeling bad that she spilled the coke.
.
Check please!!!
.
On the way out of the restaurant, Sarah asked where we were going next. I said HOME! Sarah whined saying that this spring break was no fun at all!! As I put her and Kate in the car Kate woke up and fussed saying that she didn't want to go home. Thinking some fresh air might do us all some good we went to an outdoor mall where they have Justice - one of the girls' favorite stores. I think the fresh air did help, there wasn't much crying - but Supermom was pretty nervous given that Kate had had hives on her face.
.
The highlight of our day - the girls both got some really cute earrings at Brighton.
Here is Sarah showing off her new earrings.
.

.
Look how tired she is - it was quite a day.
.
Thursday
The day before, at the doctor's office, we noticed that Kate had some green goo in her eyes. The doctor looked at it and said it was just from congestion and I should keep her on a decongestant. Okay, can do . . .
.
Well, Thursday morning little Kat woke up with her eyes glued shut from the crud. Having seen our share of pink-eye Supermom sprung into action getting old wash cloths and warm water. After cleaning her up I realized her eyes weren't pink - so what's the deal with all the green goo?
.
After the crazy week we'd had so far my only goal for Thursday was to get to the supermarket and be available for the builder. But poor little Kate felt so crummy we had to stay home.
.

.
.

Friday
Kate woke up with more goo (in fact her eyes oozed until the following Tuesday, yuck!) Though she was still oozing, she seemed to feel okay. The girls and I made plans for a big day. First, to the parks and rec department to sign up for T-Ball. Then we'd run to a showing of Horton, then to WalMart for groceries and birthday wish list shopping.
.
On the way to the parks department, Kate was moaning. I asked her if she felt good enough to go out. She said yes. Kate wanted to be carried on the way out of the the parks building and as I started the car she began to cry uncontrollably - saying she's too sick to go out and she wants to go home. Of course Sarah started crying at the same time because she knew we weren't going to make it to the movie . . .
.
Calgon take me away!!!
.
Being a glutton for punishment - I zipped the girls to WalMart for yogurt and soup. Kate was practically passed out in the shopping cart but she managed to wake up every few minutes to cry. Sarah was still mad about missing Horton.
.
In spite of all the whining, and crying we all made it home in once piece. I got Kate all settled on the couch with her blanket, some juice and an episode of Max and Ruby. Then I took little Lola out to pee in the blustery rain.
.
Is spring break over yet?
.
.
.
UPDATE:
As of Tuesday Superdad still has something going on with his ears but being a guy he won't go to the doctor. Supermom came down with a fever on Saturday night and as of Wednesday morning has a sinus and likely an ear infection - I'm going to the doctor again today. Both Sarah and Kate got minor infections (on one ear each) from the new ear rings. I think they were on too tight. Kate's eyes are still oozing and Sarah had the worst spring break . . . ever!!!
.
SPRING BREAK 2008 . . . good times.
